Helping family members understand depression

Posted on 12/31/2014 11:08:00 AM

Talking with people about your depression symptoms can be very difficult, especially if those people haven't ever had symptoms of their own.

A young woman, Allie Brosh, started writing about her experience on her blog, Hyperbole and a Half. She actually started her blog way back in 2009. But, in October 2011 she started talking about depression, and then did a second entry in May 2013

She is a tremendous artist and you can listen to a great interview with her here at NPR's Fresh Air.

I hope you enjoy these and if Allie's experience rings true, consider using this as a way to talk with your loved ones about what is going on with you.
